はじめに　

The RIKEN Centre for Emergent Matter Science (CEMS) was established in 2013 with the mission of elucidating the scientific principles of emergent phenomena and pioneering their application as a research center that integrates the fundamentals of physics, chemistry, and electronics and brings together top research leaders and young researchers who will lead the next generation. The Institute for Solid State Physics, University of Tokyo (ISSP), on the other hand, was established in 1957 as a joint-use research institute and, since then, has continued to contribute to research, incubation of researchers, joint use, and collaborative research as a center of excellence in materials science in Japan. The two institutes aim to contribute to the sustainability of the global environment and the future of humanity through the development of innovative new materials and the establishment of scientific principles. The first ISSP-RIKEN CEMS Joint Workshop was held in January 2024, focusing on research themes in the fields of physics and electronics, with the aim of deepening mutual understanding and exploring the potential for future collaborative research. Since then, the event covering physics, electronics, and chemistry has been held annually, alternating venues; for this fourth iteration, we plan to host it at RIKEN. By organizing the program around principal investigators (PIs) who have recently joined both institutions, we aim to explore new opportunities for collaboration. At the same time, as in previous years, we seek to clarify the distinctive characteristics, strengths, and research directions of both institutes and discuss new research directions. To this end, in addition to lectures, we are planning a poster session where participants can exchange views directly.

理研創発物性科学研究センター（CEMS）は、物理、化学、エレクトロニクスの基礎を統合し、研究のトップリーダーと次代を担う若手研究者を糾合した研究センターとして、創発現象の学理を解明し、その応用への展開を拓く使命で2013年に発足しました。一方、東大物性研究所（ISSP）は、1957年に共同利用研究所として設立され、以来、我が国の物性科学研究の中心的存在として、研究、人材育成、共同利用、共同研究に貢献し続けています。両研究所は、地球環境の持続や⼈類全体の将来を見据え、革新的な新物質の開発や学理の構築を通じて、これに貢献することを目指しています。物質科学・物性科学分野の国内の拠点である両研究所が、研究の現状や今後の可能性に焦点を当て、相互に認識を深め将来的な連携研究の可能性を探ることを目的に、2024年1月に第1回東大ISSP・理研CEMS連携ワークショップが、物理、エレクトロニクス分野の研究テーマを中心に開催されました。それ以来、物理学、エレクトロニクス、化学のすべての分野を網羅して、開催地を交互に変えながら毎年開催されており（第二回、第三回）、四回目となる本ワークショップを理化学研究所（RIKEN）で開催します。今回は両機関に最近着任したPIを中心にご講演頂き、新たな連携の可能性を探ると共に、これまでと同様、両研究所の特徴や強み、研究における方向性を明確にし、新たな研究の方向性について議論することを目指します。この目的のため、講演に加え、参加者が直接意見交換できるポスターセッションも開催します。
